CONCERT SERIES
The Ritz Theatre provides an opportunity to
soak-in the soothing and funky sounds of Jazz
legends, relish in the nostalgic music of Rhythm
& Blues greats, and sway to the contemporary
melodies of today’s chart-toppers and heart
throbs.
PUTTIN’ ON THE RITZ
Formerly known as Amateur Night, ‘Puttin’ On
the Ritz’ features amazing performances,
electrifying music by DJ Chill Will, and...YOU!
The liveliest audience in the south can still
applaud or boo contestants as they compete for
prizes. This isn't just a talent show…it’s ‘Puttin'
On the Ritz!’
‘Puttin’ On The Ritz’ takes place the 1
st Friday
of every month.
ALONG THIS WAY
An exciting Social Studies program called
Along This Way begins with a special delivery
of a 1930’s trunk to the classroom with a
message from James Weldon Johnson, starting
students on a journey through the Harlem
Renaissance period using interactive lessons
and the museum’s history collection as a
resource. The Trunk contains a Teacher’s
Guide, Student Handbooks, replicas of
memorabilia and primary source materials and
arrives 7 – 10 school days before the scheduled
field trip to the museum.
RITZ VOICES
Ritz Voices provides a multi-faceted musical
education to middle and high school students;
which helps to develop their vocal ability,
showmanship and value of community
involvement. Ritz Voices is proud to be the
recipient of multiple awards including two
Maestro Awards from the Heritage Performance
Festival, two Spirit Awards and 1
st place at the
McDonald’s Gospel Fest.
In addition to numerous awards, Ritz Voices has
also performed at major events including Super
Bowl XXXIX, Generation W, the Mayor’s
Inaugural Ball and Black Expo.
This impressive ensemble has performed live
with notable legends Barry Manilow, Peabo
Bryson, Dionne Warwick, Oleta Adams, John
Secada, Ashford & Simpson and Gerald Alston
of the Manhattans.
