2022 Kwanzaa Celebration

Join the Ritz as we kick off Kwanzaa!

The first principle and day is Umoja and we will be saluting Kings and Queens at the Ritz. Filled with small business owners and vendors, the first day is a community tradition.

Kwanzaa will end at New Life Community Church on 113 W 17th St, in Jacksonville. The Kingdom Builder’s group is celebrating Kuumba (Creativity) with live music and performers; Imani (Faith) and the 160th Anniversary of Watch Night.

For each event, please bring your family, friends, and some harvest (fruits/vegetable) to share. EVERYONE IS WELCOME

Umoja program includes:

  • African Djembe Drummers – Ngoma Thunder
  • Libation Ceremony
  • Kwanzaa Candle Lighting Ceremony
  • Jacksonville History of Kwanzaa
  • Marketplace (Vendor fees start at $25)
  • Youth Activities
  • Watch Night/Imani program includes:
  • African Djembe Drummers – Ngoma Thunder
  • Libation Ceremony with African Dancers
  • Poetry from Ahynte Heard, member of Black-on-Black Rhyme and Host/Founder of Verbal Essence
  • DJ Will from Jacksonville - DJ from the Victory Station WCGL 1360AM/94.7FM
  • Musical Guest: Lil’ Zae, T-Horn, Da Uncool, and Saint Sola
  • Champagne Toast at midnight
  • Childcare available on-site.
  • Giant games and Celebration Music!
