Our season of events seamlessly blends old and new, classic and contemporary, bringing diverse musical and theatrical styles onto the same stage to celebrate the rich heritage of African American music and culture. All stage performances take place in our intimate, 400-seat auditorium, where Archbishop Desmond Tutu presided over an emotionally charged blessing of the building opening.
Past concert performances have featured Blues legend Bobby "Blue" Bland, jazzman AHMAD JAMAL, and R&B legends Jeffrey Osborne and Ashford and Simpson. One night you might hear Rachelle Ferrell, and the next week you could catch the storytelling genius of Queen Nur. Our theater seasons have included Porgy and Bess, an original stage production of August Wilson's Pulitzer prize-winning The Piano Lesson and Sophisticated Ladies. The Baba Ishangi African Dancers and the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company have also graced the Ritz.
Hours and ticket prices for the Ritz Theatre vary based on performance.
